  1. Our lineup algorithm is probably going to take the form of some kind of priority preemptive scheduling. Where:

    shift = process

    therapist-Client = subprocess

    Caveat here is that our priority shifts once the next shift opens up. So its more accurate to call our algo the “latest shift first algo.” Shift 1 will be relegated to the back of the line once shift 2 opens. ↩︎

  4. In terms of the implementation of our algorithms, backup’s are technically not preemptive processes since they only arrive when standard processes (i.e., regular staff) are already preoccupied with a task, and yet a client (i.e., demand) is still pending. ↩︎
